Why do we need to improve our language skills?

We need to improve our language skill because it can help us develop or create new thoughts.

Our brain can be compared to a hardware of a computer. To fully utilize the computer, a good software is needed. The software can help produce useful outputs, such as good ideas and creative thinking. In fact, a high command of language can act like a good software, it can help produce good output.

Thus, improving language skill can help upgrade our brain software, i.e. our command of language.
The good command of language can then help us communicate well with others in our daily life. The more we communicate with others, the better language command we will have.

This results in developing a better thinking and new thoughts.

Argumentative Essay

Nowadays, there are some tenants dropping rubbish in the public housing estates. The tenants should be heavily fined to solve the problem.

They should be heavily fined because rubbish is smelly and it will affect people's health. Rubbish attracts many insects and mice. They also threaten the public health and influence the image of Hong Kong. The insects and mice may spread diseases such as Duegen fever. A visitor was bitten by a mouse in Central. Central is a commercial area. It is supposed to be free of mice and insects.

Last year, some tenants of the public housing estates dropped rubbish from their flats. Thus, some passing-by people were hurt . Finally, the government fined the concerned tenants heavily. The news helps stopping such irresponsible acts that hurt people.

The cleaning campaign in Hong Kong is helpful to educate people not to throw rubbish around. The campaign can also help people living in the public housing estate to learn how to keep the environment clean.

It can be concluded that heavy fining can help decrease the number of people dropping rubbish in public housing estates. It is also necessary to educate people how to keep a place clean.

Argumentative Essay

Children today spend more time watching TV than they did in the past. There are many disadvantages and advantages in relation to the watching TV. I would like to discuss them and give my view at the end.

I beleive that if children spend a lot of time watching TV, i.e. bout 5-6 hours every day, this will affect their studies. As a result, their performance at school will get worse.

Although some TV programs are very interesting, some of them bring bad messages; such as, stealing things and robbing banks, etc. Some TV programs even show fighting scenes. This will affect the mind of children. Last month, after child watched a TV programs and he imitated the character to fight with his brother. Finally he hurted himself.

There are also many advantages. We can learn more knowledge by watching TV than reading books. Some TV programs show programs relating to life skills. Some programs can also entertain us especially if they are very funny.

To conclude, there are both disadvantages and advantages of watching TV. If parents and children can work out a good plan together to watch TV in terms of the time and types of program, they will benefit eventaully.

Argumentative Essay on Advantages and Disadvantages of the Online Activities

Students today spend lot of time browsing the Internet and engaging in various online activities. There are more disadvantages than advantages in relation to the use of the Internet.

Firstly, students, especially teenagers spend too much time on Facebook, MSN, Blog, or Online games that are very attractive and even educational to them. As they use at least two to three hours every day, this has affected their studies. As a result, their marks may get worse.

Although games available in the Facebook are fun and interesting, some of them bring the message to steal or rob bank. Some online games even show fighting scenes. This pollutes youngster’s mind.

In addition, the youngsters become weak at socializing skill. They may have difficulty in communicating with others face-to-face. Last year, there was news about some teenagers playing computer games and not leaving home for nearly two years.

It is easy to imagine the negative effects of spending too much time browsing the Internet and engaging in various online activities. Clearly, the negative effects outweigh the positive ones.
